Nepal has witnessed an unexpected weather phenomenon this winter. In contrast to previous years, the country has faced less snowfall, leaving many regions yearning for the familiar blanket of white. However, towards the end of February and early March, the skies finally graced Nepal with some much-needed snow, delighting residents and visitors alike.
The Khumbu Region, in particular, experienced the heaviest snowfall of the year, bringing immense joy to the locals. The pristine landscape, now covered in a thick layer of snow, has become a winter wonderland, drawing in tourists and adventure seekers from far and wide.
Meanwhile, the heavy snowfall along the Karnali Highway has caused significant disruptions. The Nagma-Gamgadhi route has been blocked, making daily life challenging for the residents of the Himalayan district of Mugu. Similarly, the Rukum East-Baglung section of the Mid-Hill Highway and the Tamail-Jalebagar section of the Jayaprithvi Highway have also been blocked, affecting transportation and connectivity in these regions.
