British National Dies While Trekking to Larkya Pass in Nepal

A British citizen has died while attempting to cross the Larkya Pass in the Manaslu region.

The deceased has been identified as 61-year-old Thomson Ian from the United Kingdom, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Indra Prasad Subedi of the District Police Office in Gorkha.

DSP Subedi stated that the incident occurred on Sunday morning around 10 AM when Ian suddenly fell while trekking towards the pass in Chumnuwri Village Municipality-1, Larkya, and died on the spot.

“Police were preparing to go to the incident site via helicopter,” DSP Subedi said, “but the flight could not take off today due to adverse weather conditions.”

He added that as soon as the weather improves, a helicopter will be deployed, and a police team will reach the site to carry out further investigations.

Locals report that reaching the incident location from Dharmashala (the last settlement on the Larkya Pass route) takes more than three hours.
